anoche soñé que era
un demacrado árbol sin vida
y vos trepabas hasta mi nido.
estabas calma tan seria
mientras envolvías tus piernas
en mi tronco y presionabas
tu cuerpo contra el mío. y
dondequiera que tu humana piel
tocara mi dura corteza de mí
brotaban ramas hasta que
exuberante de hojas me volví
toda verde y plateada frágil
como plumas sosteniéndote
dormida en mis brazos de madera.
vi
last night i dreamt i was
a gaunt and lifeless tree
and you climbed into my nest.
you were calm so serious
as you wrapped your legs
around my trunk and pressed
your body against me. and
wherever your human skin
touched my rough bark i
sprouted branches till
lush with leaves i grew
all green and silver frail
like tinsel holding you
asleep in my wooden arms.

These words are dedicated to those who survived
because life is a wilderness and they were savage
because life is an awakening and they were alert
because life is a flowering and they blossomed
because life is a struggle and they struggled
because life is a gift and they were free to accept it…
